About Matt Knoop Memorial Park
Matt Knoop Memorial Park features a full-size artificial turf field, playground, dirt pump-track, multi-use trails, and slack-line posts.
The park is also home to Summit County Community Gardens which empowers people to grow food sustainably by offering a space to gather, learn, and grow.
Pets must always be leashed on pathways and are not permitted on the synthetic turf or in the playground area.
History
This 10-acre community park was built in 2012 and named in honor of Matt Knoop, an avid soccer player and former Park City High School athlete who passed in 2008. The park is beloved by athletes, families, and fitness enthusiasts alike as it’s known for hosting sports games and popular fitness classes.
Attractions
Playing Fields
Matt Knoop Park hosts practices and games for Basin Recreation programs and user groups. The turf field is lined for two medium sized soccer fields, a boys lacrosse field, and a girls lacrosse field. The turf field may be plowed throughout the winter to allow year-round use.
Playground
The shaded playground features climbing structures, swings, and other features to keep your little one entertained while you enjoy scenic views of the Park City Ridgeline. It’s also conveniently located near several pavilions and restrooms.
Pump Track
Check out Ike’s Pump Track for a great way to keep all members of the family entertained. The track accommodates bike riders of all abilities from balance bikes to expert riders and contains rollers bumps and bermed turns. Build your momentum and enjoy the ride!
Trails
Enjoy the scenery with the multi-use path that winds around the park and connects to the larger Basin Recreation trail system.
Pollinator Garden
We are thrilled to unveil the latest addition to Matt Knoop Memorial Park! This 3,000 sq ft Pollinator Garden is filled with native, drought intolerant plants suited for high elevation conditions. These grounds provide food and shelter for bees, butterflies, birds, and other insects which increases native biodiversity in this urban area. Community programming is coming soon!
Pavilions
The park has 2 medium pavilions and 1 small pavilion that is available for reservation. There are also 3 medium pavilions available on a first come, first served basis. Pavilions feature ample shade and picnic tables.
