Exploring Basin Recreation’s trails and open spaces is a privilege that comes with the responsibility to protect these cherished natural areas.

By practicing good stewardship, we help sustain the health of trails and open spaces, minimize our impact, and preserve the beauty of the environment for future generations.

A responsible steward helps maintain the health of trails and open spaces by following proper trail etiquette to reduce erosion, protect wildlife habitats, and prevent damage to our trails and natural resources.

  1. Stay on Designated Trails : Avoid straying off marked paths to prevent damage to vegetation, erosion, and disruption to wildlife habitats.
  2. Leave No Trace: Carry out all trash, food scraps, and personal belongings to keep trails and open spaces pristine.
  3. Respect Wildlife: Observe animals from a distance without disturbing them. Never feed wildlife and give them space to move and behave naturally.
  4. Yield to Others: Share the trail respectfully by yielding to other users, whether they’re on foot, bike, or horseback. Keep noise levels low to maintain a peaceful experience for all.
  5. Follow Pet Rules: Respect posted rules regarding pets. Keeping dogs leashed helps protect wildlife, other visitors, and your dog. In designated off-leash areas, ensure your dog is always under voice and sight control.
  6. Protect Sensitive Areas: Be mindful around sensitive habitats like wetlands, wildflower meadows, or stream banks. Watch where you step to avoid trampling plants or compacting soil.
  7. Observe Posted Signs: Adhere to posted signs and regulations such as seasonal closures, fire restrictions, and wildlife protection measures.
  8. Lead by Example: Share your knowledge with others and encourage them to practice good stewardship, ensuring our trails and open spaces remain accessible and beautiful.

By following these practices, you actively contribute to the health and sustainability of the trails and open spaces you enjoy. Thank you for recreating responsibly and helping preserve our shared outdoor spaces!
