Winter Trail Updates

March 21, 2025
Upper Basin 5k, Ecker Hill and the Woods are still going strong. With next week’s temps it may be the last weekend for Nordic, so get it while you can!
Glenwild and lower elevation singletrack are muddy in the afternoon. Wet ground turn around.

Nice little refresh before the warm weekend. We’re keeping the Willow Creek/ Matt Knoop/ McLeod Creek area, upper Basin 5, and Ecker Hill going for grooming. Conditions are good with a few thin areas.
There will be a youth Nordic race held at Ecker Hill Saturday and Sunday this weekend. Trail will remain open but will be busy.
Friendly reminder for the lower south facing single track trails such as Glenwild: conditions are muddy in the afternoon! Trail damage occurs from all recreation activity. Please be mindful to go only if frozen to help prevent damage that requires a lot of work to fix. Walking around mud is not a solution. It widens trails, displaces soil, creates erosion, and damages the local vegetation.
Thank you! And have a great weekend.

Happy last day of February and round 2 of the melt off.
We’re keeping Ecker Hill, the Woods, upper Basin 5k, and sections around Willow Creek going for now. Skiing recommended upper Basin 5k and Ecker Hill.
We lost the Green Heart, lower Basin 5k, crooked mile, Ancient Forest loop, and McLeod going into town.
It’s full on spring conditions. Go early, do some crust cruising, and recreate responsibly. Avoid any mud and post holing so we can keep what we have going 🤘.

Full System is up and running again after the last week of storms!
Enjoy the warm weekend

Basin Trails Report:
Winter is Back! We were able to keep Ecker Hill, the Upper 5k, and the Woods alive for the last two weeks of warmth. With last night and this weekend’s totals we’ll be working through the weekend into next to resurrect the full system again.
February 7, 2025
As of yesterday: Ecker Hill, the Woods, and upper Basin 5k were the last places holding any snow.
The Greenheart is closed indefinitely.
Treat all trails with mud season etiquette for the foreseeable future.
February 4, 2025
Quick update. Grooming operations remain on hold until conditions permit. There would be more harm than good for the longevity of the winter trails if any equipment was brought out. Not to mention we may have lost some trails for the time being. This is a current picture of Crooked Mile
We recommend limiting trail use to asphalt pathways until we get some colder temperatures.
Thanks for your patience, think snow

Another beautiful cold week of grooming. All 45km of Nordic is in great shape. Fingers crossed we get more snow than rain this weekend.
If you’re looking for some alternative fat biking we do occasionally groom the lower portion of the bike park! This includes the Learn To Ride loop, Yabba Dabba Doo, part of the jump line, and the Duel Slalom The upper half of the bike park is closed in the winter to all traffic.

The full Nordic system is fast and firm. Classic lanes are set at Willow Creek, The Greenheart, and The Basin 5k.
We dug out Discovery Ridge Loop yesterday and gave it a Snow Dog groom. The Trailside Loop and Saved By The Bell were also single track groomed this week.
Couple friendly reminders:
-The Basin 5k and Green Heart are Nordic skiing only. No dogs, no foot traffic. All other 35 km of the 45km total are multi-use.
-Please leave our grooming stakes in place. These are vital for navigation on low visibility days.

All 45km of our Nordic trails are in good shape!
We’ll set classic lanes on the Green Heart and Basin 5k after this weekend’s storm.
Short stack parking area was cleared yesterday and is encouraged to park there when visiting Summit Park in the winter.

Our full Nordic system is all go
Basin 5k and Green Heart are still a bit thin so use caution. After the storm tomorrow conditions should be great everywhere next week.

Happy Holiday Week! We kept Ecker and Discovery Loop tuned up all week.
Theres a lot of snow forecasted today into the weekend. We’ll be letting it accumulate and focus on snow removal throughout the weekend. Excited to get the system groomed out next week with the predicted totals!

December 20, 2024
-Ecker Hill held enough snow to get going for Nordic this week and has good conditions.
-Discovery Ridge winter single track loop also got a touch up and is riding and hiking well.
-Willow Creek areas got an early week comb to pack last week’s new snow but is still too thin and patchy to continue.
It’s a warm weekend and return of the mud season. Use trails early while frozen please

Happy to see the sky producing something this morning. Hopefully after this weekend we’ll be able to get a few of our locations track packed and groomed.
This week we got the avalanche terrain and beeping signs out in Summit Park with the help of @utavy .
Did some clearing up at Short Stack. This is the encouraged trailhead for winter Summit Park parking.
Even helped out with the clearing and opening of Willow Creek pond the other day.
If you want a good snowshoe or fat bike loop, go check out Discovery Ridge trailhead to access the 2 mile winter loop.

Thanks to everyone who came out for our official opening of the new Lower Run-a-Muk trailhead and Pawmaste trail connection.
All lower Nordic trails are still too thin/patchy for us to get our groomers on.
We did do a snow dog groom on the winter Discovery Ridge loop! Recommended clock wise: up the Up Trail and down Pale Green Dot. Discovery Ridge trails are multi-use multi-directional in the winter.
Lower south facing trails on Glenwild are muddy in the afternoon so please go early while frozen.
