SNYDERVILLE BASIN SPECIAL RECREATION DISTRICT TO INTERVIEW FINALISTS FOR DISTRICT DIRECTOR POSITION
PARK CITY, Utah - July 12, 2016 - The Snyderville Basin Special Recreation District ("District") will interview five candidates to become the District's next District Director. Interviews with the Administrative Control Board, representatives of Summit County and members of the District Management Team will be held on Thursday, July 14, 2016. In subsequent days, the Administrative Control Board will make a formal recommendation to County Council for approval. The five candidates include:
JEFFREY EVENSON has been the Park Superintendent for the City of Roseville, Minnesota, since 2009, and has been with the city since 2001, serving as Park Project Coordinator. He was the owner and principal landscape architect for Creekside Landscaping, Inc., in Minneapolis, Minnesota, from 1986-2001. Mr. Evenson has a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture degree from the University of Minnesota.
BRIAN HANTON has been with the Snyderville Basin Special Recreation District, Park City, Utah, since 2003, serving as Recreation Coordinator, then Recreation Manager, and he has been Parks & Recreation Manager since 2012. Mr. Hanton has also been Program & Fitness Coordinator for Salt Lake County Parks & Recreation. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education & Exercise Science from Michigan State University.
JEFFREY MILKES has been Southeast & East Services Manager & Land Services Manager for the City of Portland, Oregon, Parks & Recreation Bureau since 2005. He has also been Recreation & Aquatics Manager for the North Clackamas Parks & Recreation District in Oregon, and has 15 years of recreation experience overseas with the Army and Navy, ending his career with the military as Chief of the Community Recreation Division in Germany. Mr. Milkes has a bachelor's degree in Recreation & Park Management from the University of Oregon and a master's degree in Recreation, Tourism & Resource Development from Texas A & M University.
LEEANN POWELL was most recently Recreation Section Manager for Salt Lake County, Utah, serving from May 2013 to March 2016. Prior to that, she was Recreation Director for Clinton City, Utah, for 22 years. Ms. Powell has a bachelor's degree in Parks and Recreation Management from Utah State University and a master's degree in Leisure Studies and Services from the University of Oregon.
KEVIN SCHMIDT was most recently Willamalane Center Complex Manager for the Willamalane Park & Recreation District in Oregon. Prior to that, he was Leisure Services Director for Santaquin City, Utah, from 2007-2014. During his career, Mr. Schmidt has also been Senior Recreation Leader for the Town of Gilbert, Arizona, and he was owner and manager of Tumblebus Gymnastics of Arizona for four years. He has a bachelor's degree in Parks & Recreation from Utah State University and a master's degree in Recreation & Tourism Management from Arizona State University.
The District's Administrative Control Board hired Prothman, an executive search firm, to help with the search and hiring of a new District Director. Prothman received 41 applications for the position. After a review of the written applications, Prothman interviewed candidates that best met the District's profile for the position. Prothman then met with the Administrative Control Board to review the results of those interviews and the Board chose the five finalists.
The District, a Summit County Special Service District, is located in the unincorporated Snyderville Basin area near Park City, Summit County, and lies thirty miles east of Salt Lake City, Utah. Established in 1986, the District's mission is "to be the leader in providing outstanding and diverse parks, trails and recreational experiences in an environmentally and socially responsible way."
